Okay, right off the bat I’m going to say the title for this wedding is misleading. But, there was no elegant way to title it – Stunning ceremony at Phipps and top tier reception at Kingfly Spirits…ya know? It’s been months and months since I’ve shared work with you all and let me tell you, I am rusty on how to even write out a blog!!! SO if I start rambling about how incredible this wedding was, just go with the flow.
The morning started of with so much laughter, tears of joy and even a dance party. Some of my favorite images come from the getting ready portion of the day – the atmosphere and vibe it just immaculate. This is also the time when I get to have fun photographing all of the pretty little details!
Another fun part of my day is having a few minutes alone with the bride after she gets dressed. There’s something special about taking bridal portraits right before walking down the aisle to your person. Jamie was SO excited and looked absolutely stunning, I kept saying “okay wait one more.”
The Broderie Room at Phipps is one of my favorite places to shoot. The stunning gardens and rows of flowers that surround you while you marry your person is to dieeee for.
I will offer a warning though – while incredible stunning, be mindful of the month that you book your wedding for the Broderie Room! Jamie and Alex got married in May and we got lucky with the weather (a week prior to their day, there was an intense heat wave.) Because this is a green room, it tends to get VERY warm and somewhat humid. If you are not a fan of the heat, this room is best in the early wedding months!
Another reason I LOVEEEE Phipps is the Old Botany Hall building that sits right next to the Broderie Room. While not super hidden, it’s often missed because it’s tucked behind a tree and gardens. But when you do find it, the steps and the overall vibe of it all is something I could spend hours photographing in front of. We were running low on time and had to get back onto the bus to make our way to Kingfly but I convinced Jamie and Alex that they HAD to take a couple photos in front of it. I wish I had gotten a video of the 3 of us sprinting – Jamie in her heels, me with my cameras flying all over the place – we stood there for maybe 3.5 minutes, snapped 10 photos and then hustled back to the bus.
Okay okay, now we are finally at the PARTYYYYY. Kingfly Spirits was such an incredible venue and I cannot wait to work there again. It had been on my bucket list after I had a drink there one weekend and I had said to my boyfriend (P$ – if you know you know) that it would make an awesome venue space.
After some dancing, cake cutting and a HUGE group photo, I told Jamie and Alex we should run outside for some cutie last minute photos before the real dance started. I also took this time to photograph the details one more time but with some added items from the evening – a slice of cake, some bubbly and whatever else I could find!!
