Across the street from PPG Paints Arena and just minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh, the Energy Innovation Center – or EIC as it’s well known – is located in the Hill District with the most stunning views of the city skyline. Kait and Allen’s wedding was on a sunny February Saturday (you know how rare those are here) and every detail down to the “‘Til Death” sign was perfect. Before heading to the EIC, hair/makeup and all the fun pre-ceremony photos were taken at the Cambria Hotel & suites, also conveniently right across the street.
For this being my first time at the EIC, I didn’t know what to expect when walking in. When I tell you I GASPED at how stunning not only the views where, but the overall layout and placement of everything – I was floored. A special and massive shout out here goes to my now good friend Rebecca aka Wynn Events PGH . She took Kait and Allen’s vision for this wedding and made it come to life.
I took maybe 6 MILLION photos of the decor because it was absolutely jaw-dropping. It’s just about as jaw-dropping as the backdrop during the ceremony – with Pittsburgh on full display and the light coming in perfectly to light the entire room. It’s really a photographers dream LOL. After the sweetest ceremony (yes, I cried), we all headed up to the rooftop (again, a photographers dream) for some bridal party group shots and bride and groom portraits.
Once dinner was about to get started and speeches began – which just so happened RIGHT as the sun set – I noticed what may be the most INSANE sunset I have witnessed in a long time. So cue me internally panicking/hoping that the speeches would wrap up quickly so I could photograph Kait and Allen. And I’m so glad that whoever spoke last, read my mind because we captured the sky just in time. They are some of my favorite images I’ve ever captured with a sunset in the background. The rest of the evening was a true party, with some incredible music by First Class Entertainment and if you know me, you know I can’t help but dance a little bit as the night carries on. I’m back at the EIC this summer and I am beyond excited to photograph in such an awesome space again.
