Some of my favorite engagement sessions are when my couples get creative and aren’t afraid to get a little funky—especially when it involves unexpected props, like florals and a shopping cart. Brittany and Stephen sent over some inspiration that had a slightly grungy vibe, and I knew I could take that and make it something even cooler.
We met in an alleyway in the Strip District, and the moment I arrived, I spotted a shopping cart just sitting there in the grass, waiting for us. It ended up being the perfect prop to add a bit of whimsy to the session.
After hanging out in the alleyway and dodging speeding cars (literally), we headed over to the abandoned Pacific Pride gas station around the corner. I’ve been really into direct flash lately, so I experimented with that a bit, adding some grain in post—it totally amplified the vibe of the photos, giving them a gritty, nostalgic feel that matched Brittany and Stephen’s energy.
Brittany and Stephen absolutely crushed it. Every photo we took feels like it could be an album cover—effortlessly cool and filled with personality. These two brought the vibe, and the Strip District delivered the perfect backdrop.
