Anniversary photos outside abandoned church in Pittsburgh PA

Creative, Engagement session location inspiration

PITTSBURGH ANNIVERSARY SESSION INSPO

Mar 19, 2026

When Nicole reached out about planning a 5-year anniversary photo session with her husband, Rich, I was ECSTATIC. I’ve known Nicole for a little over a year now, and our vibes are so aligned, it just makes sense. She’s drawn to those funky, outside-the-box moments (same), and from the start, she knew she wanted her session to reflect her personal style.

We started our session at an old church

The old church sits abandoned just minutes from the city and it’s so unique. It’s currently set to be torn down which is so tragic, but it made for the perfect grungy backdrop.

This location is definitely not for everyone – but Nicole and Rich CRUSHED this. We got into such a flow and it made me appreciate the beauty that once was this church. It’s so hauntingly beautiful – even in its abandoned state. I’ve thought about doing another session here before they fully bring it down!

Next we headed downtown to one of my favorite garage rooftops

And if you’re new here – I LIVE for a garage rooftop in the city. There’s something so fun about being elevated amongst the buildings.

The light during these moments on the rooftop were EVERYTHING!!

Just like engagement photos, your anniversary sessions don’t need to look like everyone else’s, they just need to feel like you. You’re allowed to be funky, creative, a little unconventional. Lean into what makes your relationship yours, because those are the moments that will always feel the most meaningful. And if these sparked some creativity in you – let’s chat!
