Getting married in your childhood home backyard feels like something out of a dream.
For Chloe, that dream became reality as she married her favorite person, Lauren, surrounded by the place that held so much of her story in Johnstown, PA. Nestled in the woods, Chloe and Lauren said ‘I do’ on the front porch steps with their closest family and friends in a moment that felt both intimate and deeply rooted in home.
The morning was perfect – both Lauren and Chloe in separate spaces in the home getting ready, but both spaces filled with the excitement and nerves of the day. After photographing the details and the final touches, it was time for the first look (one of my favorite aspects of wedding days).
The first look
Now it was time for the ceremony
With the home draped in the most stunning summer florals and the sky bluer than blue, it was time for the ‘I do’ moment. There was not a single dry eye as Lauren and Chloe shared the most wholesome and heartfelt words with each other.
The bridal portraits are always a favorite of mine
Especially when they happen right after the ceremony. The energy is so high, the love is in the air and I also know I have a small window to photograph Lauren and Chloe because they are ready to party and mingle at cocktail hour with their favorite people. But these two needed no help when it came to posing, which always makes my job easier. One fun thing I did for this wedding was bring along a backdrop for an elevated scene. I purchased a set of velvet green curtains and placed a gold chair for one of them. This was so fun because as I left it up for the evening I saw guests enjoying the set up as well!
Now it was time to party!!!
Once we finished up bridal portraits, it was time to dance AND SING!!!! Chloe is a fantastic singer and since they had a live band rather than a dj, Chloe stepped on the mic and gave an insane performance of our collective favorite – Pink Pony Club.
This wedding was one of my favorites I’ve ever captured. Not only was the day filled with so much love and happiness but Lauren and Chloe (and every single guest at this wedding) were some of the warmest, most welcoming humans I’ve had the honored of photographing.
